In Japan, on almost every corner, big or small, single country lane, or five lane thoroughfare one can see these mirrors. They are priceless. Simply by looking up, you can see anyone coming 'round the bend easily spotted on the concave reflective glass. It's like having huge rear view mirrors on every street corner. Unfortunately, Japanese drivers have grown up with these things and use them a wee bit too much. It's rare to see a driver who DOESN'T drive around corners without stopping. At first I thought such drivers were all mad as hatters. But, I quickly realized that the corner mirrors are their equivalent of stopping and looking both ways. As for me, though, I'm not so bold, or so foolhardy as to race around corners without stopping first.
