Andrew Gold - Lonely Boy (1977)

Oh no. I just heard on Mark's show that Andrew Gold passed away. His two hits, "Lonely Boy" and "Thank You For Being a Friend" were such radio mainstays in my Wonder Years. Hearing those songs always brings me back to those summer days in family car trips, or riding bikes with my pals or poring over the new Radio Shack catalog up in the attic. Thanks Andrew, for that and more.

Rest in Peace.

MR TEPCO - A Musical News Flash!

A tribute to the 'Fukushima 50', those brave souls fighting the odds at the nuclear power plant, as well as Dickie Goodman and his 1976 hit "Mr. Jaws" which inspired this tribute.
Also, dedicated to all those volunteers and professionals who are working around the clock to help victims of the earthquake, tsunami and radiological emergency. Heroes, all.

Last Photo of My Helmet

I took this earlier in the day, the same day my helmet was pinched by some low life. What kind of jerk would steal somebody's helmet, anyway?

Too bad I didn't have the owners of the two bicycles around then, "Hey Mister! That guy just took your helmet!"

Super Duper Cub

A few weeks ago I passed what was most likely this very bike. I was going the other way, and my thought was, as I looked back at whatever it was which had rounded the bend, 'Did I just see a trike Super Cub...with a trailer? Nahh.'

And I shook it off as too much wakame in my miso. Well, lo and behold, I go to the park and park my cub and what do I see?

River Side on Ocean Day

Well, it's not exactly the ocean, but it leads to it.

Everyone was looking for shade.

Saw this same model Super Cub "Street". Relegated to workhorse duty. She's up for the challenge.

A Press Cub sighted on water's edge, no doubt helping to bring the day's catch in.

The view back to the inlet lock.

Stopped off at a small rest area. A firehouse substation that has a bit of history to it.

But you're never alone in the shade.

One can find a shrine in the oddest places sometimes.

I love the small, charming riverside homes.
