A Solo is never alone

That's a Honda Solo parked next to the Super Cub. A great bike sporting a classic look and using modern technology to make it fast, durable, and efficient. They came in Plasma Yellow/White, Black/Silver, and Red/White paint schemes. The owner of this particular one is fine gentleman who appreciates the finer things of life.

Honda Aircraft Company Established

New Honda Subsidiary Will Market and Produce HondaJet in the U.S.

TOKYO, Japan, August 8, 2006 --- Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced that is has established a wholly-owned subsidiary, named Honda Aircraft Company, which will be responsible for the further development, sales promotion and production of the innovative HondaJet. The new company will be based in a facility at the Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, North Carolina, where the prototype HondaJet was assembled and flight tests have been carried out for more than 3 years.

Michimasa Fujino, the chief engineer who has led development of HondaJet and spent the past 20 years in Honda’s aviation activities with Honda R&D Co., Ltd., will be assigned as the president and CEO of Honda Aircraft Company, and prepare for the full operation start of the new company from October.

Honda Aircraft Company will begin taking sales orders for HondaJet this fall, with the goal of delivering the first mass production HondaJet in 2010. In addition, the company will develop the production version of HondaJet, pursue and hold both type certification and production certification, and conduct marketing activities for the aircraft. The company also will manage Honda’s new alliance with Piper Aircraft, Inc., which will collaborate on sales and service. The goal of this alliance is to provide a new level of sales and service to meet the needs of jet customers with the goal of setting a higher standard for the quality of the ownership experience.

HondaJet features several innovations that help it achieve far better fuel efficiency, larger cabin and luggage space and higher cruise speed than conventional aircraft in its class. The result of 20 years of aviation research, key HondaJet innovations include a patented over-the-wing engine-mount configuration, a natural-laminar flow (NLF) wing and fuselage nose, and an advanced all-composite fuselage structure.

The Wild Women of Wongo

I found this "gem" on Google videos. Whew! What a flick. Anyway, I thought I would try out their "post it to your blog" option. Spread the misery and all.

Many films have recently been labelled "public domain" and can be viewed freely. Many of the films are great cinema. This is not one of them. Wild Women of Wongo, if the title doesn't already suggest it, is not an A-list picture. It's not even a B movie. Nope. I think this timeless anti-classic was intended for Drive-in use only. Where, back in the day, couples would rarely notice the movie on the 50 foot screen, but instead engage in intimate relations, like they do in school today. Back then, kids had to read books and listen to the teacher when in school. Awful. So, Drive-ins were invaluable places for experimenting in the rites of passage, much like the characters in this movie.

Saturday Night Oldies

Cousin Brucie at Palisades Amusement Park in his Leopard Skin Suit!
And the guy up in the air? That's Charlie Greer!

WABC radio in NYC is broadcasting their weekly Saturday Night Oldies 6-10pm. Hosted by Mark Simone. Highlighting the great days of WABC music radio, before everything went talk radio. WPLJ and WNEW in NYC were rock, and WABC was pop. 50,000 watts and the best voices in radio, period. This was before the million dollar contracts and shock jocks. These shows were good, clean fun, professional with a capital P, and yet spontaneous, eccentric, and filled with laughter.

Mark's guest Ron Lundy, former DJ and all around wonderful guy, just called in to say 'hello Luv!".

Someone called in about the drastic change in tone of the commercials.
During the show, Mark plays the bumper bits, the jingles, and the original commercials from the 60s, 70s, and early 80s. Back then, it was diffferent. There were no ads for prostrate disorders, nor vaginal yeast infection creams, no ads for herpes treatments, no not-too-subtle ads for over-the-counter erection disfunction medication. Nope. The commercials were about pimple cream!! Ah, the times have changed.
